Police confirm Benue Poly rector’s kidnap

The Acting Rector of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Dr Emmanuel Barki, has been kidnapped.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Benue, Sewuese Anene confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday.

Anene said the victim was kidnapped with others on their way to Ugbokolo, after an official trip to Makurdi.

The police spokesman said some management staff of the polytechnic and their driver were kidnapped alongside the acting rector.

It was learnt that the abductors accosted the victims along the Otukpo/Otukpa Road and whisked them away into the bush on Thursday.

A report stated that the abductors have demanded N70 million ransom.
