The Nigeria Police Force has arrested suspected terrorist collaborators, dismantled an illegal firearms manufacturing operation, repelled an attack on a village and recorded other operational breakthroughs across seven states between August 21 and 23, 2026.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedo, the operations were conducted by police commands and formations in Imo, Taraba, Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Ogun and Niger states.
In Imo State, on August 21, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators, including the alleged owner of a terrorist camp.
The operatives recovered two AK rifles, including an AK-49 rifle allegedly linked to the murder of a Homeland Security Guard, as well as an AK-47 rifle reportedly snatched from Agwa Police Station during an attack on the facility in 2022.
The suspects are currently in custody, while investigation is ongoing to unravel the wider terrorist network and identify other members and collaborators.
In Taraba State, operatives acting on credible intelligence on August 23 arrested a 50-year-old man allegedly identified as a manufacturer of illegal firearms.
Four locally made Dane guns and two single-barrel guns were recovered from the suspect, alongside tools believed to be used for the manufacture of firearms.
According to the police, the suspect is cooperating with investigators and has provided useful information on some of his arms buyers, while efforts are ongoing to recover additional weapons and apprehend other members of the network.
In Plateau State, security personnel on August 23 successfully repelled an attack on Tanjol Village in Riyom Local Government Area, forcing the attackers to flee into the surrounding forest.

A joint search-and-rescue operation was subsequently launched, leading to the recovery of two injured security personnel, who were immediately evacuated to a hospital for medical attention.
In Bauchi State, police arrested a suspect on August 22 in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man during a fight in Bauchi metropolis.
The knife allegedly used in the incident was recovered and registered as an exhibit as investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the death.
In Gombe State, detectives on August 23 responded to a fatal assault in Gudukku District of Nafada Local Government Area, where a 16-year-old boy sustained a serious head injury during an alleged disagreement.
The suspect was arrested and is currently assisting the police with the investigation.
Similarly, in Ogun State, operatives responded on August 23 to a report of threats and an alleged cult-related attack at Kajola, Ikenne.
One of the suspected attackers was arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who fled the scene.
In Niger State, police on August 23 responded to a mob action in Nasko following the death of two suspected thieves who were allegedly attempting to dispossess a motorcycle rider of his motorcycle.
The remains of the two deceased suspects were recovered and deposited at the General Hospital, Nasko, while investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those involved in the mob action.
The police said investigations into the various incidents are ongoing, with efforts being intensified to apprehend other suspects linked to the crimes and ensure that those found culpable face prosecution.
