The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command has arrested two suspected notorious armed robbers and murderers of a security guard.
The suspects, Amaechi Edemba, 46, and Kelechi Nwokoro, 48, were said to be domestic staff of the victim whose house was robbed in the Asokoro, FCT.
They were also found to be in possession of jewellery, laptops, wrappers, and a silver Toyota Camry, along with other valuables at the time of their arrest.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, called on residents to always profile their domestic staff with the police before employment.
Adeh, in a statement, said: “Following a complaint that armed robbers broke into a residence in Asokoro, FCT in January 2026, murdered a security guard on duty, and carted away an unspecified amount of cash, a vehicle, and other valuables, Police operatives attached to FCT Police Command Scorpion Squad launched an intelligence-led operation to apprehend the suspects.

“Between February 12 and 19,2026, the operation led to the arrest of two principal suspects: Amaechi Edemba and Kelechi Nwokoro in connection with the incident.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that Kelechi Nwokoro was formerly employed as a security guard by the complainant but was disengaged from service in January 2026 due to negligence while on duty. Driven by resentment over his dismissal, he conspired with Amaechi Edemba and recruited four additional accomplices from Nasarawa State to execute the robbery.
“Leveraging his prior knowledge of the premises, Kelechi disabled the CCTV surveillance system and cut off the electricity supply before leading the armed gang into the residence. The suspects were confronted by a security guard on-duty, Ishaku Marcus, but they overpowered and strangled him to death before carting away cash, jewellery, laptops, wrappers, and a silver Toyota Camry, along with other valuables.
“Upon their arrest, the stolen vehicle and other exhibits were recovered. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the remaining members of the gang, who are currently at large.
“While commending the efforts of the police officer for their professionalism, the Commissioner of Police FCT Command, Miller G. Dantawaye calls on members of the public to endeavor to profile their domestic staff with the olice before granting them employment.
He also enjoins the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
