Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested a suspected bandit, Mohammed Isah Haruna, in Rimaye village, Bichi Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest, made on Saturday, July 12, led to the recovery of an AK-47 magazine, 109 rounds of ammunition, and fake military uniforms.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the arrest followed credible information from a member of the public.
According to the statement, a search of the suspect’s bag led to the recovery of one AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition, 79 additional rounds of AK-47 ammunition, two sets of suspected military uniforms, three military caps, one suspected fake military ID card, one National Identification card, one NIN slip, one voter’s card, four ATM cards, and one pair of desert boots.
The statement added that during interrogation, the suspect confessed that he was in the area to deliver the items to bandits operating in the bush.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the people of Rimawa Community for their vigilance.
“This arrest underscores the importance of community partnership in policing. We appreciate the Rimawa Community and all good people of Kano for their support. Security is a collective responsibility,” Bakori said.
The Command said the suspect was in its custody and added that a discreet investigation was ongoing to apprehend other members of the network.
The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation, the statement said.
