Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious kidnapper, Habibu Bello during a clearance operations along the Kano-Kaduna and Kano-Katsina borders.
A press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed that the suspect, aged 35, was arrested on September 14 at Kunkumi town in Makarfi LGA, Kaduna State, following an operation by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad.
The suspect, described as a notorious kidnapper and member of a syndicate specializing in armed robbery and cattle rustling across Kano, Katsina and Kaduna States, has confessed to several previous kidnapping incidents. These include the abduction of one Hajiya Binta of Kwanar Dangora, for which N20 million was allegedly paid as ransom, and involvement in cattle rustling across Kano and Katsina States.
Further investigation led to the arrest of one Mudan of Kwanar Dangora as a member of the syndicate, the police said.
Similarly, the Command said its operatives recovered a cine-camera drone marked GT 50 during a clearance operation on September 17, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m.
The drone was found lying on the ground at Hawan Tarau village in Bebeji LGA, Kano State. The police said efforts are being intensified to trace its source and owner.
Reacting to the developments, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the gallantry of the operatives and reiterated that the Command will sustain aggressive clearance operations in collaboration with neighbouring Commands to deny criminal elements any safe haven in the state.
The Commissioner also lauded residents of Kano State for their continued support and cooperation.
