The Edo State Police Command on Tuesday arrested four suspected cultists and recovered firearms in Uromi area of the state.
The all-male suspects were identified as Solomon Oboigbe, 27, of Ewoyi Quarters, Uromi; Fidelis Omale, 26, of Atani, Uromi; Julius Oseyomon, 64, of Atani, Uromi; and Abraham Erumosele Momo, 54, of Eco Obedo, Uromi.
In a Wednesday statement, command spokesman, ASP Eno Ikoedem disclosed that police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, nabbed the suspects in a well-coordinated operation around 2:00 am on Tuesday.
The statement reads, “During the operation, four English pump-action guns were recovered from the suspects, alongside nine live cartridges and three expended cartridges.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects are members of the Eiye Confraternity and that the recovered firearms were obtained through illegal means.”
The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives for their professionalism and prompt response, and reiterated the command’s resolve to sustain the ongoing crackdown on cultism and other criminal activities and mop up firearms across the state.
The command spokesman disclosed that the suspects were arraigned in court following the conclusion of diligent investigation.
The command urged members of the public to continue to support the police with timely and credible information, assuring that all reports would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
