Police arrest 345 suspects, recover 270 dangerous weapons in Kano

The Nigeria Police in Kano State have arrested a total of 345 suspected criminals, consisting of suspected thugs, drug peddlers and persons found with offensive weapons.

Speaking, Monday, during a press conference held at the Bompai headquarters of the Command, Kano State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori explained that the arrest was sequel to a clearance operation by the Command which took place from Friday 5th of June to Sunday, 7th of June, 2026.

He added that investigations were on going in respect of each of these cases, adding that each of the suspects would be prosecuted “where evidence warrants”

 

The police boss explained that as a result of the operation, 270 dangerous weapons, made up of knives, cutlasses, clubs and other dangerous implements used to perpetuate violence were retrieved from the suspects.

He added that a substantial quantity of suspected illicit substances, including Cannabis Sativa,Extol tablets and the lethal mixture known locally as “Suck and Die” were also recovered during the operations,

According to him, the assorted seizures have directly reduced the capacity of the criminals to harm law -abiding members of the society and undermined their capacity to destabilize communities in the state.

He lauded two recent initiatives by the Command, Operation Kutan Kura and the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), for the success recorded, adding that the initiatives enhanced the visibility of policing, reduced response time to distress calls and denied criminal elements the opportunity to regroup at flash- points.

He insisted that crime had been reduced across the state and appreciated the people of Kano State for their trust, vigilance and willingness to share information with the police. End.
