Police arrest 30 suspected kidnappers, robbers, others in Niger

Niger State Police Command has arrested over 30 kidnappers, suspected armed robbers thugs, murderers and rapists. Commissioner of Police, Adamu Elleman, said: “We have waged war against criminals.

“We will not relent in our efforts to rid Niger of criminals. Our officers remain committed to pursuing justice with diligence and integrity. I have charged officers to rise up to the task and flush out the criminals.

“The command has implemented community policing. They should apply professionalism when carrying out their duties.

I have encouraged officers on discipline, professionalism and integrity as core values every officer must uphold. Insubordination will not be tolerated.  The command will continue to demonstrate resilience, innovation and professionalism in safeguarding the lives and properties of the citizens.

“We are emboldened by the leadership of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu. We remain committed to professionalism and respect for human rights and adherence to the rule of law in all our operations.

“Operatives attached to Lapia Division mobilised vigilante arrested three suspected armed robbers at Yawa bordering to Niger and Kogi and recovered one AK47 rifle with a magazine, 244 rounds of live ammunition. Operatives mobilised to old NEPA, Suleja, arrested two suspects for child trafficking and rituals and rescued four children.

“Police Surveillance Patrol team attached to Tungun/Wada Division arrested two suspected counterfeit currency dealers. Police B Division, Kotangora, arrested two suspects at a hotel, Barrack Gate. 

Police operatives attached Maje Division arrested nine suspects for criminal, conspiracy, armed robbery, culpable homicide and receiving stolen property.

“Operatives arrested two miscreants for thuggery and robbery, along Kwari-Begger-Maittembi Road. Police arrested a suspect for theft with a sack containing a turkey bird. Operatives arrested a suspect and with a stolen vehicle along Kure Market Road, Minna. Another suspect was arrested with a locally made pistol and a cutlass.

“I have warned officers to shun corruption and illegal duty. They should cultivate good relationship with the public and respect fundamental human rights of the citizens.”
