Police arrest 2,329 suspects, prosecutes 2253 in  3 month’s

Lagos State Police  Command has arrested
 2,329 suspected  criminals and  prosecuted 2,253  in the last three months.
This was revealed yesterday ,  by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adegoke Fayoade,  who resumed as Commissioner of Police on December 14, 2023.
According to him, during a press briefing held at police officers mess, Ikeja, Lagos, said that it is with a great sense of service that, I present to you today our journey so far as a command since I assumed duty as the Commissioner of Police on December 14, 2023 in Lagos State.
“In the past days, I have piloted the affairs of the command with all sense of professionalism, charging my men to be up and doing and not spearing the big stick on officers found wanting”.
“We have rejigged our township patrol, paying special attention to high-risk areas especially at peak periods and this has helped a lot to reduce traffic robberies”
“Upon assumption of duty, I presented to Lagosians my ten-point strategic road map. I have kept faith with that document and have ensured that all the goal-oriented plans therein are actualized” CP said
He stated that the enforcement on the ban of motorcycle is not left out as our continuous enforcement drives have been yielding positive results where a total of 4,502 motorcycles have so far been impounded on banned routes and have been handed over to the State Government for crushing.
Specifically, he added that, in the past month, the command also arrested 64  suspects ,who have engaged in crimes including armed robbery, cultism and unlawful possession of firearms as well as unlawful possession of illicit drugs and  many more.
“Items recovered from them include: a total of  20 firearms;  120 rounds of toy ammunitions; 28 live ammunitions, 15 live cartridges and threw  expended cartridges others are four  vehicles; POS machine; seven  cutlasses, illicit drugs and various charms” said Fayoade.
He stated further on a
 case of  kidnapping which happened on February 20, 2024, where three men, one on military uniform accosted a young man and subsequently abducted him in a Honda Salon car and demanded ransom.
He said, “the victim then transferred the sum of four N400, 000 to his abductors before he was released to another group that took him away in their Toyota Camry car and obtained him of his diamond earrings, gold earrings, Cartier wristwatch, and iPhone 12 pro max and then demanded for a ransom of N6.4million. A friend of the victim paid the sum of fifty thousand naira to the abductors”
“Upon reporting of the case, luckily, the victim was able to identify a young lady whom he saw pointing at him before the incidence. Investigation led to the arrest of Zara Onyesom, 28; Abayomi Olalere Ishola,  28;  Chima Cyril Collins, 29;  Oluwasheun Illre,  40 and Ayodabo Olumuyiwa Muyideen, 38. One Honda salon car and Toyota Camry car were recovered while all items obtained from the victim were also recovered and handed over to him. However, the case has been charged to court”.
He said the force has put certain strategies in place to checkmate criminal activities, especially on the waterways,’ Our Marine Police Division is working very hard with the assistance of the Nigerian Navy to frustrate the activities of criminals, especially kidnappers on our waterways”.
