The Minister of Police Affairs Iman Suleiman Ibrahim has reiterated the need for internal security across Nigeria and the need for security operatives to focus on professionalism , capacity building and collaborations among sister agencies to ensure effective community policing .
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) in Akwa Ibom state ASP Timfon John made available to Journalists in Uyo on Sunday stated that Ibrahim while addressing Heads of security formations last weekend in the state during a working visit said welfare of Police Officers has remained a focal point in president Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda towards making the country more safer and secured .
John said the Minister who visited Federal Government facilities in Akwa Ibom emphasized the importance of professionalism, collaboration among security agencies, community policing and continuous capacity building of officers and men for a better and safer society.
The statement reads in parts :
“The Minister upon arrival at the Victor Attah International Airport proceeded to the Marine Police, Oron, Maritime Academy of Nigeria Oron, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Jubilee Ikot Abasi, as well as Marine division, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.
“The Minister was received by the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command CP Waheed Ayilara represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, and the entire management team.”
She explained that the Minister was received at Maritime Academy of Nigeria ,Oron, by the Rector Commodore Emmanuel Duja Effedua , NNS Jubilee ,Ikot Abasi, and Officer in charge of Marine police SP Ekanem AJ
