Nigeria’s Super Falcons qualified for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a 1-1 tie against Benin Republic on Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

The holders won the last qualifying round match 3-1 on aggregate.

Head coach Justine Madugu made one change to the team that defeated the Amazons in the first leg, with Asisat Oshoala replacing Chiwendu Ihezuo.

Nigeria started the game brightly, pushing the visitors onto the back foot.

The Super Falcons took the lead in the 12th minute through Al-Ittihad defender Ashleigh Plumptre, who powered home a header from Esther Okoronkwo’s brilliant corner.

The hosts failed to double their lead before the break, despite creating a couple of chances.

Benin Republic equalised in the 61st minute through Yasminath Djibril.

Morocco will host the WAFCON 2026 finals from March 17 to April 3, 2026.
