The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the claim by Governor Nyesom Wike that it (ruling party) had concluded plans to plant 800 guns to destabilise the state.

Spokesman of the party, Senibo Chris Finebone said no right thinking person will believe that the President Buhari-led Federal Government will under any circumstances do such a thing.

Yesterday, Wike’s Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, in a statement said the APC-led Federal Government had resolved to implement the plot during her last security meeting.

But the APC spokesperson said that even the Rivers governor would not believe his claim on plans by the Federal Government to plant 800 guns to destabilise the country.

Mr Finebone said: “Our attention has been drawn to the allegation by Gov. Nyesom Wike accusing the Federal Government of plotting to plant guns in Rivers State.

We know that governors who deserve or merit the high office they occupy do not go to bed, wake up and spin such blatant falsehood as in this case.

“We know that, in his sober moments, Gov. Nyesom Wike will not even believe himself. He should know that no right thinking person will believe that the President Buhari-led Federal Government will under any circumstances embark on what the governor is conjuring either against Rivers State or indeed any state.

“Sometimes, the governor resorts to wild allegations to create a facade over his actual actions. Rivers people know him, Nigerians should watch him.”
