The orgy of killings in the restive North Central State of Plateau resumed early in the year with the murder of the Chief Imam of Jumma’at Mosque of Ndun village of Tangur District of Bokkos local government area of the state, Malam Muhammad Sani Idris.

A motorcyclist, identified as Muhammad Gambo, was also killed in the area.

The incidents also came in a day the Furaka Community in Jos North LGA of the  state was thrown into confusion as kidnappers killed a man and abducted  two people in the community.

Chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), Garba Abdullahi, yesterday ,confirmed the the killing of the cleric .

He said a younger brother to the murdered Imam, Salisu Muhammad Sani Idris, was injured during the attack and  currently receiving treatment at Dung Hospital in Bokkos Town.

The chairman said they have reported the incidents to  security agencies in Bokkos for immediate actions.

The GAFDAN  chairman, who gave an account of the incident, said, “the chief Imam and his younger brother were attacked on Monday, after arriving at the community to collect some of their belongings from the ruins of the recent attacks where houses of our members were burned down. So, they went there to see if they could pick some of their property but they  were attacked. The hoodlums killed the Imam while his younger brother survived  a machete cut.

“The second deceased, Muhammed Gambo, an Okada rider, and also our member, was killed on Monday,around Bokkos Market, while bringing a passenger to the area. We have reported the two incidents to the Police and the Military in Bokkos, “ the chairman added.

In the Furaka incident, a source in the community, said the kidnappers stormed the community at about 10:00 p.m and shot sporadically into the air.  The  kidnappers were said to have forced their way into a premises and abducted  Mr. Antipas Gabriel, who works with the Plateau State Water and Sanitation Agency, in the presence of his family and a 20 -year-old lady.

The entire community was said to be under the siege of the kidnappers in an unhindered operation, for more than 30  minutes as kidnappers also shot dead a man, Aron Dani, trying to scale a fence to escape.

The abductors were also said to have left with their captors in a vehicle, while other members of the gang trailed the car on motorcycles.

It was gathered that the abductors are yet to contact the families of the victims.

Attempts to reach the Spokesman of State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, and his counterpart in the Operations Safe Haven, Capt Oya James, on the phone  proved abortive and they could not reply the text messages sent to their phones.
