Plateau speaker, deputy resign

The crisis rocking the political circle in Plateau State following the nullification of the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang took new twist, yesterday,  with the resignation of the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Moses Sule and his deputy, Gwottaon Fom

The House elected 30-year-old member representing Pankshin North State Constituency, Gabriel Dewan as the new speaker. Dewan is of the Young Peoples people’s Party  (YPP)

Timothy Dantong of Riyom State Constituency was also elected as the deputy speaker.

Sule, who was elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) told his colleagues that he resigned on personal grounds.

The newly elected speaker, who spoke to journalist shortly after his election promised to represent the house well and carry all members along in his leadership, irrespective of political party affiliation.
