The member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has lost his bid for a third term in the Green Chamber.

Gagdi lost in the primary election, which took place on Saturday, to John Tongshinen.

The Returning Officer, Daspan Ishaya, who announced the results, said Tongshinen recorded a total of 29,968 votes while Gagdi polled 5,849 votes.

Another aspirant, John Pia, scored 51 votes.

The results indicated that in Pankshin Local Government Area, Tongshinen secured 13,155 votes, while Gagdi recorded 1,072 votes.

In Kanke Local Government Area, Tongshinen polled 6,438 votes, while Gagdi garnered 126 votes.

In Kanam Local Government Area, Tongshinen recorded 10,375 votes, with Gagdi securing 4,651 votes.

Ishaya said the figures were collated from across the wards and local government areas in the federal constituency, stressing that his duty was limited to presenting the outcome of the exercise.

Social media had been awash with reports of Gagdi proclaiming himself as winner of the election. He had told some newsmen that he had been endorsed by stakeholders in his constituency.

Gagdi could not be reached for his comments as of the time of filing this report.
