A swift response from security operatives has led to the repelling of an alleged attack by bandits on Kampani village in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Calm has, however, been restored to the panic-stricken community.

Our correspondent gathered that armed attackers descended on the village at about 4 pm on Saturday, but a quick response from security operatives averted what could have been a calamity.

Youth leader in the community, Shapi’i Sambo, told newsmen that upon sighting the bandits in their numbers, the villagers sent distress calls to local authorities, who promptly alerted security agents stationed in the local government.

He said security operatives, who responded rapidly, engaged the bandits, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding bushes.

The security operatives were said to have moved in to secure the area by conducting thorough sweeps to confirm no attackers remained and that all residents were safe.

Sambo said no casualties were reported among the villagers, sparking widespread relief across the community.

He also said residents of the community have been commending the state government and the local government authorities, as well as security operatives, for their decisive action.

Efforts to speak with the police spokesman, Alfred Alabo, were unsuccessful as his phone could not be reached.
