Plateau Rep, Gagdi, loses third term bid, Lalu secures ticket for second term

Member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under All Progressives Congress (APC), Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has lost his bid for a third term in the green chambers.

Gagdi lost to John Tongshinen

The Returning Officer, Daspan Ishaya, said Tongshinen recorded 29,968 votes while Gagdi polled 5,849 votes. Another aspirant, John Pia, scored 51 votes.

The results indicated that in Pankshin Local Government Area, Tongshinen secured 13,155 votes, while Gagdi recorded 1,072 votes.

In Kanke Local Government Area, Tongshinen polled 6,438 votes, while Gagdi garnered 126 votes.

In Kanam Local Government Area, Tongshinen recorded 10,375 votes, with Gagdi securing 4,651 votes.

Ishaya said that the figures were collated from across the wards and local government areas in the federal constituency, stressing that his duty was limited to presenting the outcome of the exercise.

Social media had been awash with Gagdi proclaiming himself as winner of the election. He had told some newsmen that he had been endorsed by stakeholders in his constituency.

Gagdi could not be reached for his comments as of the time of filing this report.

Ishaya Lalu secured the ticket to contest the House Representative seat for Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency for a second term.

He said that Lalu polled 33,290 votes, defeating three other aspirants to clinch the party’s ticket.

His closest opponent, retired AVM Paul Masiyer (retd), secored 2,115 votes.

He explained that other aspirants, Titus Palma and Elkana Garang secured 1,427 and 1,075 votes, respectively.
