Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have gunned down two kidnappers and freed their victims.
The state police Spokesman, Alfred Alabo, said the incident happened in the Fangha area of Daffo District in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement signed by him, Alabo said: “On 03/06/2024, at about 5:30am, we received a distress call from a patriotic citizen who reported that some hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers were operating in the Fangha area of Daffo District, Bokkos LGA.
“Upon receipt of the tip-off, a team of policemen and other security help groups, led by the DPO, Bokkos Division, swiftly rushed to the scene of the incident where they engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and two of the hoodlums were neutralised in the process, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Exhibits recovered from the hoodlums include, one locally fabricated revolver gun loaded with four 7.62mm ammunition, two phones, one dagger and one knife.”
The command said they remain resolute in the fight against crime and criminality, and would continue to do everything within its constitutional mandate to ensure that Plateau State is habitable for all residents and visitors.
