The Director General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Sir Joseph Ari said the Plateau Man Award of the Year 2022 presented to him would encouraged him more in the fight against poverty through the provision of requisite skills to grow Nigeria economy.
Ari disclosed this at the weekend while receiving Plateau Man of the Year Award in Jos and said the Award will also spur other recipients in different capacities to contribute their quota to nation building.
“I am here because I have been recognized by my own people and is a thing of joy to be recognized by your people for the little you do in the course of humanity.
“I give thanks to God Almighty for depositing in me the potentials to be of service to one’s father land and to also thank President Muhammadu Buhari for finding me worthy to be of service to my father land out of over 200 million people.
” I am one person with the interest of human dignity at heart. So being placed at the helm of the affaires at the Industrial Training Fund tick all the boxes for me because it is an institution that is meant to encourage and transform the human person into a useful element.”
Ari who also received ‘The Leadership Public Person of the Year’ described the gesture as a great challenge to him to give back to the society and to do more in the course of humanity.
He dedicated the Award to God Almighty and to the Management and Staff of the Industrial Training Fund who gave him all the needed support and working as team players in the actualization of the vision and mandate of the Fund.
“In just 6 years of our being in charge in the Industrial Training Fund, we have been able to unveiled four policy direction, we came in with the ITF reviewed mission and Mandate actualization. We reviewed that policy during the COVID-19 because we realized that the world was getting vocal and getting volatile, complex and ambiguous.
“We also brought in a 9 point policy direction in line with the Federal Government National Development plan, so at every point in time, we are able to leverage development within the training trends internationally and in line with global best practices and to ensure that ITF remained relevant.
” I am glad to tell you that we were able to unveiled another policy direction, leveraging on the national apprentice and traineeship system. We want to use the apprenticeship system to escalate the equipping of more Nigerians with more requisite skills because we need to get our people productive.” He stated.
Executive Director CLEEN Foundation, Gad Peter, who presented a key note address, congratulated the Awardees and noted that there is a strong relationship between politics, governance and socioeconomic development
“Political will is an essential tool needed to fight corruption and mismanagement in Plateau state. It is the driver of a robust private sector, resilient media, vibrant civil society, transparent judiciary, good administrative reforms and governance that lead to national integrity and sustainable development.
“The absence of political will is highly responsible for gross underdevelopment in Nigeria. The sustainability of governance reforms therefore depends on whether the political leadership has the political will or not, to ensure implementation.” He stated.
Among those who received the Award are Douglas Francis of Arise TV, as Journalists of the year; Fom Dalyop Gwattson as Plateau House of Assembly member of the Year; Senator Istifanus Gyang as Senator of the Year and Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos as Plateau House of Representatives member of the year among several other persons.
