Two undergraduates and a staff member of the University of Jos have been identified among those caught in the Angwan Rukuba killings in Jos North, Plateau State, where no fewer than 28 persons lost their lives.
The victims are Patrick Ishaya, a 300-level student of Geography and Planning; Abel Joro Gershon, a 300-level Building student; and Duguryil Ufialas Daniel, a hall officer at the postgraduate hostel.
The Vice-Chancellor, Tanko Ishaya, on Tuesday visited the survivors at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
He was accompanied by Prof Noel Wanang, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin, and Dr Rosemary Anga, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs.

Addressing journalists after the visit, Ishaya said the victims were responding favourably to treatment and commended the hospital’s management for its prompt and professional intervention.
“Thankfully, all of them are responding well to treatment,” he said.
He urged the university community and the wider public to keep the victims in their thoughts, while also calling for sustained prayers and collective efforts towards restoring peace in the troubled area.
