The Plateau State Government has condemned the recent attack on Kawel community in Mushere Chiefdom of Bokkos Local Government Area, describing the incident as a heinous and senseless act of violence against a peaceful population.

The government also directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the attackers and ensure they are brought to justice.

In a statement yesterday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, the state government expressed deep sorrow over the attack and extended condolences to families who lost loved ones.

It also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and currently receiving treatment in various health facilities across the state.

According to the statement, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has ordered security agencies to step up operations in the affected area, with clear instructions to apprehend those responsible for the attack without delay.

“The Governor has directed security agencies to intensify operations in the affected area, apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice,” the statement read.

The government further directed emergency response and humanitarian agencies to immediately provide relief materials and support to victims and displaced families affected by the violence.

It urged residents of the area and the wider state to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, while encouraging communities to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.

The statement also warned against any form of reprisal attacks, stressing that the government would pursue justice strictly through lawful and constitutional means.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace and security, the Plateau State Government said it remained resolute in protecting the lives and property of citizens and ensuring sustained stability across all communities in the state.

Security agencies are expected to intensify patrols and intelligence operations in Bokkos Local Government Area as part of ongoing efforts to restore calm following the attack.
