Plateau: Fulani Militias attack Mangu,  destroy farmlands, injure one person

FG’s failure to arrest, prosecute violent Fulani herders sign of complicity – HURIWA
From Jude Owuamanam, Jos
Large expanse of farmlands were destroyed as gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen overran Kubat community of Bwai District, Mangu local government area of Plateau.
According to the Media Secretary, Mwaghavul Youth Movement, Tubwot Joel Sunday, one person was  injured in the attack on Wednesday, when a band of Fulani militia from Yidel Hamlet in Murish Community launched another deadly attack, leaving Mr Manasseh Datip, badly injured and now receiving treatment at the  Jos University Teaching Hospital, Jos.
He said that the latest incident followed last week’s similar attack on the same community by the Fulani herdsmen who invaded the community from Bokkos local government area, leaving in its wake a trail of farmlands destruction and devastation.
Tubwot in a statement said that the people have abandoned their farms and taking refuge in nearby communities while some are in IDP camp.
According to the media secretary, it has become the fashion since the deadly 2023 Christmas Eve attack on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu in which more than 200 people were killed for the Fulani to invade and destroy farmlands, kill and maim villagers and, drive them away.
He said, “Predating the above, several farm lands were destroyed by same Fulani herdsmen in Mangul of Kantoma Community. We’re glad that so far, arrest has been made in that regard except for the attack on Kubat Community.
“This resurgence of unprovoked  assaults on the Mwaghavul Communities has no doubt added to the already recorded number of casualties, deaths, injuries, and number of homes and properties destroyed by the inhuman elements from when the travails of the Mwaghavul Nation began.
“The communities recently effected are still in shock and mourning as a result of this senseless violence. The Mwaghavul Youth Movement frowns at this heinous act in the strongest possible terms and demand that the authorities concerned take immediate action to bring the perpetrators to practical justice.
“The Mwaghavul Youth Movement urges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, being the General Commander in Chief of The Arm Forces to immediately investigate the attacks and ensure that those responsible are held accountable and, be dealt with in order that it will serve as deterrent to other criminals.
“Provide adequate security to protect Kubat, Murish and all effected communities of the Mwaghavul Nation to avert future attacks.
“Address the root causes of these reoccurring acts of criminality and work towards a lasting solution.
The youths also called on all stakeholders in the peace processes in Plateau State to join them in condemning every attack on innocent and harmless people.
