Two people were killed on Wednesday in an attack in Rim and Wereng communities of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victims were identified as Joel Bwede, aged 39, and Justics Dadong, 22.
National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, expressed dismay that human lives were increasingly being reduced to mere numbers in recurring reports of killings on a daily basis.
According to him, residents of the two communities had been subjected to intense attacks, resulting in the loss of lives and property.
The statement said, “The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), under the leadership of Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, is deeply concerned over the latest attacks by Armed Fulani Terrorists in Rim and Wereng communities of Riyom Local Government Area, which have further exposed residents to fear and insecurity.
“The attack in Rim on Wednesday, September 3, 2026, claimed the lives of two youths, Joel Bwede, 39, and Justics Dadong, 22, leaving their families and the community in grief.

“BYM is particularly worried that human lives are increasingly being reduced to mere numbers in recurring reports of killings, with each casualty representing a family shattered, dreams cut short and a community left traumatised.
“This should not become the new normal in Plateau State.
BYM strongly condemned the attacks and called on the Federal and Plateau State Governments, as well as security agencies, to do far more to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
“The protection of lives and property is a primary responsibility of government, as expressly provided under Section 14(2)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“BYM therefore demands stronger security presence in vulnerable communities, improved intelligence gathering and rapid response mechanisms, as well as the immediate investigation, arrest and prosecution of those responsible for these attacks.”
The association extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and the people of Rim, while urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.
