The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has announced that local government elections will take place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
PLASIEC Chairman, Plangji Cishak, outlined the election timetable in a statement released in Jos on Wednesday.

Key dates include:
July 12: Collection of nomination forms by candidates and commencement of political party campaigns.
July 29 – August 8: Conduct of primary elections by political parties.
August 9 – 13: Submission of completed nomination forms by candidates.
August 21: Publication of candidates’ particulars.
August 22 – 24: Verification and screening of chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates.
September 2: Submission of the final list of cleared candidates.
September 4: Deadline for candidate appeals.
October 7 (Midnight): Campaigning ends.
October 9: Local Government Elections.
October 12: Potential run-off elections.
The commission called on all political parties and stakeholders to cooperate and ensure free, fair, credible, and transparent elections.
