The House of Representatives Committee on Host Communities has dismissed a petition against Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) by the Niger Delta Oil Producing Communities Reform Movement (ND-OCRIM).

The chairman of the committee, Dumnamene Dekor, who disclosed this at a press briefing on Tuesday, said while PINL appeared before the panel to defend itself against the allegations against it, the petitioners did not show up to substantiate their allegations.

Consequently, Dekor stated that the sub-committee, which investigated the petition, recommended its dismissal for lack of evidence and failure of the petitioners to honour its invites on three different occasions.

According to him, “The petitioners were invited on 14 September, 22 September and 5 October 2026 but did not appear, sent no representative, gave no explanation and presented no documentary evidence.”

“PINL appeared and tendered an uncontested written submission showing that the share of crude reaching the Bonny Terminal through the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) rose from 3 per cent in May 2022 to 98 per cent in September 2026.”

According to him, the panel “strongly commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustaining the reforms in the security of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. It commends the National Security Adviser for coordinating national security efforts that have supported the protection of the nation’s pipelines.”

The lawmakers, Dekor noted, also commended the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) “for its role in sustaining these reforms and for providing an enabling environment,” as well as the various “pipeline security providers across the nation, including PINL and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, for helping to secure the nation’s pipelines.”
