Pilgrims welfare board declares Israel safe for pilgrimage

The acting director of the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mrs. Rahila Isa-Baita, has said that all is now set for the commencement of the 2023 pilgrimage to the state of Israel.

Mrs. Rahila Isa-Baita made this known In a telephone interview with newsmen from Israel.

She explained that the essence of the visit was to inspect the holy sites to make sure they were safe for the pilgrims to perform their spiritual obligations.

The acting director further gave assurances that all preparations for a hitch-free pilgrimage have been concluded.

“The Nigeria Christian Pilgrimage Commission and the entire pilgrims management board in Nigeria are in Israel for the state of readiness for the pilgrimage that is coming up on the 29th of June.

“The FCT director of the Christian Pilgrimage board is here in Israel as it is our mandate to inspect sites to assure the intending pilgrims that Israel is safe.

“We are in one of the holy sites at the moment with other stakeholders in the sector from different states including the executive secretary, we assure Nigerians in general that pilgrimage is safe because Israel is open for pilgrims,” the FCT acting director stated.

She further added that there are a lot of sites Nigerians can visit without much problems because they are not close to war-prone areas.

“The ground handlers are on top of the situation in the region, we are here with the Nigerian Ambassador to the state of Israel, Mrs. Agatha Afoekelu who is ready to receive all Nigerian contingents,” she explained.
