Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the arraignment of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to April 23 over phone-tapping allegations.

The Department of State Services (DSS) had filed a three-count charge against El-Rufai for the alleged unlawful interception of communications, linked to remarks he made during a television interview.

The arraignment was initially scheduled for February 25, but the former governor was absent during Wednesday’s proceedings.

Counsel for the DSS, Oluwole Aladedoyin, told the court that El-Rufai remains in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), where he is under investigation for alleged misappropriation of funds.

Following this, the judge rescheduled the arraignment to April 23.

More updates will follow as the case progresses.
