Philanthropists to donate classroom block, targets 2000 youths for empowerment in A/ Ibom community

A philanthropists from Ikot Edong village in Ukanafun local government area of Akwa Ibom state Jacob Okon Idungafa has said that one renovated classroom block will be handed over to community as part of his community service while 2000 youths will be empowered to alleviate poverty in the society.

Idungafa who is also a businessman said youths will be empowered to build their capacities and make them self reliant .

He stated this during a press conference in Uyo ahead of the commissioning ceremony and explained that he was driven by passion to help the community in their educational development as the only means to assist the youths in the community.

Idungafa ; a native of Ikot Edong Afaha Obo clan explained that the empowerment covers states in Nigeria as the last one was done in Rivers state while this year will be hosted in his community with the commissioning of classroom block.

” Other projects in Ikot Edong include grading of all major internal roads , solar lighting along Ukanafun Ekparakwa road, free medical outreach for the people of Ukanafun, OrukAnam and Etim Ekpo local government areas and provision of foodstuffs and wrappers for women to cushion effects of hardship”

Idungafa stated that the empowerment does not have any political undertone but was borne out of passion to activate the youths and the less privileged persons in the society .

” The aim is not political but relates to humanity . The purpose of this foundation is to activate the youths and commission the primary school block .

” Last year when we have event in the school , we saw the state of decay in school and we decided to do something by renovating it.

” Presently, the primary school has a library, ICT centre, street light and game centre . These are the new features we have brought in the school which were not there before.

Idungafa said activating the youths is not only in Akwa Ibom but will extend to other parts of Nigeria , Africa and entire world .

” My target is beyond Akwa Ibom. Of course we started activate the youths programme in Port Harcourt and we had over 500 youths who came all the way from different background. This year hopefully, it will be more than 2000 in Akwa Ibom region.”
