The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in all the 36 states chapters, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said plans have been concluded for a Thanksgiving service in honour of late Rev Dr Uma Ukpai who died recently.

Addressing a press conference in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, the National President of PFN, Bishop Francis Wale, said the Thanksgiving celebration coincides with the 40th anniversary of PFN with 65 million members in Nigeria.

Bishop Wale, who was represented by the National Secretary of PFN, Bishop Bakare, explained that the Thanksgiving service became necessary as the fellowship was birthed 40 years ago when late Rev Uma Ukpai staged a crusade in Lagos.

“Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) was born from a historic crusade staged by the late Rev Uma Ukpai in Lagos.

“Today, PFN has over 65 million members across all chapters in the 36 states of Nigeria. We are 40 years old and this celebration coincides with the glorious home call of the man of God whose evangelism in Lagos City gave birth to this organisation.”

He said the PFN decided to visit the family of the deceased in Uyo and inform them that the planned Thanksgiving will be held in all the states in Nigeria on October 19, 2025.

“PFN is one of the major achievements of Papa Uma Ukpai, and it is his first born. Uma Ukpai was a wonderful gift to the church and the entire world. Our celebration of 40 years will be what Papa Uma Ukpai stood for.”

He further disclosed that on October 23, there will be another celebration of 40 years existence of PFN at Redeem City in Lagos to be followed by Dinner and Award Night at Transcorp Hotel in Lagos.

“In all these celebrations, the late Rev Uma Ukpai will be honoured. These celebrations will mark the commencement of his immortalisation to sustain his memory on earth.
