Former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr Dakuku Peterside, has paid a glowing tribute the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, describing him a loyal friendship.
Peterside spoke at the Night of Tributes held in honour of Ubah, who said could go to any length to support his friends, noting it was attribute of the late lawmaker that is “not common in our landscape,” adding that late senator was a philantrophist, who supported the poor, the underprivileged, and believed “life is meant to be impactful, and not to live for yourself alone but rather to live for others,”
He said that Ubah did so much across the country, and was also a good family man, who shared moments of joy and challenges with his friends.
He said that Ubah rose from grass to grace through hard work, tenacity, courage, innovation and absolute faith that anything could be accomplished if “you set your mind on it.”
He stressed that all these attributes of Ubah are what the world is celebrating about the short life that he lived.
Also speaking in the same vein, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo described Ubah as man of humility, who had respect for people, and showed the ability to make things work for people.

“He was a very, very humble man, very special at least I have had an experience with him. “What we must take away from Ifeanyi Ubah is focus, vision, passion, compassion and his determination to do something really really great.
He was indeed a true Nigerian.
Ituah called on his children, especially Ifeanyi Ubah Junior, to build a strong legacy that their father never had the opportunity to build, protect his siblings, and called on the Lord to look after them, bless, comfort and keep them, at all times.
In her tribute, speaking with tears, the only daughter, Chidera Uba, said: “I never foresaw doing this until we get older, laughing over the sounds of your grandchildren all over the compound. Life gives us unexpected things, but I have the honour and palatable joy of calling you my Daddy. I am forever grateful to God for giving you to me as a father.
“I thank God for giving me a lion, a king, the first to reckon with who I call father. Many call him Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Uba, but I call him daddy. You call me daughter, Ada, lion’s daughter. You may be gone physically but your blood runs through my veins, reminding me that you are always nearby and to remain strong, and keep my head up.
“That was who you were and and that is how you have raised us up. Being your first child and only daughter, I had the privilege of knowing you were on what others did not know, the bonds shared was like no other. You being gone is what I cannot accept.”
Tearfully too, the first son, Ifeanyi Ubah (Jnr) said of his father: “Dad you are just 52 years old, the light you left is still shining so bright but has vanished,. The grief grips me. I never thought it possible, and the words that I speak now are words that are heartbroken without you. How do I forget a man who was everything to me. My protector, my guide and my inspiration.”
