Val Obienyem, the Media Adviser to Peter Obi has refuted reports that the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Anambra.

Addressing the rumours in a statement issued on Tuesday, Obienyem dismissed the reports as false and baseless.

He disclosed that Obi was not even in Anambra at the time of the alleged arrest.

“As of Saturday, Mr Obi was in Rwanda attending to important engagements. He has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is actively involved in party and national matters.

“There was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made,” he stated.

Speaking further, Obienyem also clarified that Obi’s wife was not arrested, calling the report a fabrication aimed at misleading the public and causing unnecessary panic among his supporters.

He called on members of the public to ignore the false report and watch out against misinformation, adding that any official communication about Obi would be released through the proper channels.
