Peter Aneke dies at 76

The family of Mr. Peter Chukwuemeka Aneke has announced his passing on January 5, 2026. He died at the age of 76.

Aneke was a chartered accountant and former Executive Director, Finance, at Nigeria Hotels Ltd, with a career spanning audit, consulting and hospitality management in Nigeria and the United States.

Born on July 28, 1949, in Enugu, he was educated at Washington Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha, and the Nigeria Military School, Zaria. He later studied in the United States, earning degrees in Accounting and Business Administration, and was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Wisconsin and Illinois in 1982.

He worked with Alexander Grant & Co and Price Waterhouse in the United States before returning to Nigeria in 1983, where he held senior management roles in audit, consulting and hospitality. He also founded a financial management consulting firm and served on a Presidential Panel of Inquiry on Temporary Import Permits. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, he contributed to professional training through the institute’s Mandatory Continuing Professional Education programme.

He was also active in golf administration, serving as a director of the Nigerian Golf Federation. He was a Life Member of Ikoyi Club 1938 and a member of Ikeja Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, Violet Emeka-Aneke, children and grandchildren.
