The PEARL Awards has appointed three professionals to its board as part of efforts to strengthen governance and professional oversight of the annual capital market awards.
The new board members are Ibrahim Boyi, former Executive Commissioner, Corporate Services, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); Bunmi Lawson, Managing Director/CEO, Edfin Microfinance Bank; and Johnson Chukwu, Managing Director/CEO, Cowry Asset Management Limited.
The appointments come ahead of the 2026 edition of the PEARL Awards, scheduled for November 29 in Lagos. President/CEO of PEARL Awards Nigeria, Tayo Orekoya, said the appointments were intended to bring wider expertise and experience to the board.
“We are delighted to welcome these accomplished professionals to the PEARL Awards Board. Their experience and knowledge will add significant value as we continue to strengthen the Awards and position them for an even greater impact on the capital market.”

The 2026 awards will recognise institutions, companies and individuals based on performance and contributions to Nigeria’s capital market, with winners determined through an evidence-based process. According to the organisers, the selection process relies on empirical facts, figures and measurable performance derived from companies’ activities in the capital market.
This edition will be held under the theme, “Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring the Future,” following the 30th anniversary of the awards celebrated last year. Orekoya said the awards had, over three decades, provided a platform for recognising performance and promoting best practices in the capital market.
“The PEARL Awards has, for three decades, provided a credible platform for recognizing excellence, promoting best practices and celebrating institutions and individuals who contribute significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s capital market. This year, we are not only celebrating excellence; we are challenging the market to inspire the future.”
