Sports wear manufacturers and makers of the Peak brand have signed a kit sponsorship deal with the West Africa Basketball Classics.

The deal which was signed at the Peak International Group headquarters in China will see the sports apparel outfit kit all the six teams in the inaugural edition of the Classics which purely is an invitational event.

At the signing ceremony, Olumide Oyedeji, President of the West Africa Basketball Classics put pen on the dotted lines for the new organization while the Peak General Manager, Mrs Christin Wu signed on behalf of her outfit.

According to Joseph Apu, Director of Operations for the WABC who doubles as Secretary of FIBA Africa Zone 3, all six WABC teams will be be kitted.

As part of the deal, Peak will also partner the WABC in conducting Clinics for the children before each phase of the Classics as a way of giving opportunity to the young ones and bring them closer to the game.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Oyedeji said that the coming of Peak is a welcome development. “We’re pleased that Peak has shown interest in the development of basketball in West Africa. This sponsorship deal, though is coming without money, the kits that the teams are getting gives us uniformity that stands us out and we’re grateful that they are identifying with our event which is part of the development programmes of the FIBA Africa Zone 3 under the leadership of Col. Sam Ahmedu (Rtd).”

The General Manager, Peak International Group, Mrs Wu on her part noted that they are overjoyed that WABC is providing its platform for them to showcase their products.

“I must say that we’re glad to be a part of this novel project. Mr Oyedeji is a Peak ambassador and we’re happy to associate with the event.”

The first phase of the WABC holds in Lome, Togo from February 24 to March 4, 2024.
