A governorship aspirant in Plateau State under the Peoples Democratic Party ((PDP), Sunday Garba Biggs, has assured the people of the state that the party would bounce back to power in the state in 2027.
Biggs, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), speaking in Mangu yesterday at his formal declaration, said that his decision was not driven by personal ambition alone, but by a sincere desire to serve, to restore hope and to build a future that reflects the true potential of Plateau State.
He said: “I stand before you today with a deep sense of humility, gratitude and responsibility. I thank God Almighty for the gift of life and the opportunity to gather here at this defining moment in our collective journey. I also thank every one of you for your unwavering commitment to the progress, unity and prosperity of Plateau State.
“Today, I formally declare my aspiration to contest for the office of the Governor of Plateau State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
He said having recently joined PDP, he was inspired by its enduring commitment to democracy, inclusiveness and people-centred governance.
“My commitment and vision to serve is rooted in the experiences, expectations and aspirations gathered over the years of service within the state’s civil service where I rose to the peak of my career. I have seen and engaged at the highest level of governance and clearly understand what Plateau needs to become the true home of peace and tourism.

“Everything rises and falls on leadership and our dear state cannot be left behind. I am committed to bringing on board a leadership style that rises and falls on the collective aspirations of the people. If given the opportunity to serve, I shall strictly focus on bringing to reality the wishes of the people and carrying them along always,” he said.
He promised to carry the people along in all his decision making to realise a Plateau of their dreams.
He articulated his ambition to include building a peaceful and securing Plateau where every citizen feels safe and protected, to create jobs by revitalising agriculture, supporting small businesses and attracting investment.
Biggs, who’s the Convener of Biggthingscoming Movement 2027 Plateau State, also promised to invest in quality education and healthcare that would empower “our people and secure our future, to develop critical infrastructure that connects our communities and drives economic growth and to promote unity, tolerance and inclusive governance across all ethnic, religious and social divides.”
He expressed the belief that leadership must be about service, integrity and accountability. “It must be about listening to the people and working with them to achieve shared goals,” he added.
The present Governor Caleb Mutfwang was elected under the PDP in 2023 before he defected to the APC in November 2025.
