The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Federal House of Representatives Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II in Lagos, Emmanuel Ugochukwu Nnodim, has said that he is confident that his party will take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress in the February 16 polls.
Nnodim, who spoke during his campaign flag off in Oshodi/Isolo, stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s APC-led government has no focus and has failed Nigerians woefully.
According to him, the APC-led government is not favorable to anybody and no right-thinking person in the country today will vote for the party.
“The APC government have no idea and they have no clue. We have to rescue this state and rescue the country,” the candidate said.
“We must make people understand that this system is not working for us. This election is all about the people and not the party. And I am very confident that PDP will win the election because our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is a job creator. He knows how to create jobs. You know our vice presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi as well. These are the people that have got track records.”
He said as for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) they should make sure that the election is free, fair and credible. He urged INEC to allow the people to vote for their preferred candidates.
“I cannot stay here and point fingers at anyone because election is fast approaching. We have told INEC and its staff to allow people to come out and decide who they want to vote for and the party they want to vote for.
“We expect a level-playing ground so we hope by the special grace of God that things will work out for all of us.”
The candidate also condemned the alleged agreement between INEC and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos to convey electoral materials to and from polling units.
“PDP is not comfortable with the agreement between INEC and the NURTW and the party leadership has spoken on that matter. INEC needs to make things more transparent, the way people will understand it and see for themselves if INEC is credible. We are hoping that the INEC Chairman will do the right thing for the nation,” he said.
Nnodim advised young people to shun electoral violence and not to allow any politician to use them to foment troubles during the election.
“I have got my track record and I am a businessman who have done things in the past. And I am ready to push this to our constituency,” he said, urging the people of Oshodi/Isolo to vote for him.
