The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, yesterday, said it has uploaded the names of the party’s candidates for the 2027 general election.
A statement by the faction’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, said it was in fulfilment of his leadership that the opposition party would participate in the 2027 polls.
“I am pleased to inform all the PDP members and Nigerians that our great party, under my leadership, has successfully uploaded the names of our presidential candidate, his running mate, and our national assembly candidates onto the INEC candidate nomination portal.
“This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the promise we made that under my leadership, the PDP will fully participate in the 2027 general elections. Today, we have taken another decisive step towards fulfilling that promise.

“As we await the conclusion of the upload of our governorship and state houses of assembly candidates, I, on behalf of the National Working Committee of our party, extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the PDP members across Nigeria and around the world.
“Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more united party and a better future for our nation,” the statement said.
The PDP is currently polarised into two camps. While the camp led by Mohammed is supported by loyalists of the FCT minister, the other camp led by former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Tanimu Turaki, is backed by supporters of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
However, the Mohammed-led NWC is currently recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), while the Turaki camp recently filed a suit to compel the electoral umpire to recognise it as the authentic leadership of the party.
Ahead of next year’s general election, the two rival blocs conducted parallel primaries to nominate candidates for the PDP.
