Nasarawa State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has urged Governor Abdullahi Sule to prioritize the development of the state over politics.
The party emphasized the need for Governor Sule to leave President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, out of the state’s political affairs and focus on addressing pressing issues.
The party’s charge to the governor came in the wake of his recent official visit to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike in his office on Friday, during which Sule solicited for further collaboration with the FCT Administration for a metroline from Apo to Keffi as well as partnering to build the 13,000 hectares Gurku/Kabusu mega city that is only 5km away from Maitama 2.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by the state Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Francis Orogu, the party expressed concern that for the four years and three months the governor has been in office, no significant projects have been commissioned in the state and his administration had not set a clear agenda.
The PDP raised questions about the governor’s collaboration with Wike to discuss infrastructure and security matters between Nasarawa and the FCT. They pointed out the security challenges in Nasarawa State, including the presence of terrorist groups and criminal activities.
The statement also highlighted incidents of violence and insecurity in the state, including the killing of Mr. Philip Tatari, a sitting APC state chairman, and the murder of Alhaji Zakari Umaru, a former federal commissioner, both of whom had close ties to Governor Sule. The PDP asserted that the governor’s lack of performance and insecurity led to his rejection in the last election.
Orogu stressed that it was time for Sule to concentrate on governance and development, rather than involving President Tinubu and Minister Wike in the state’s politics.
