Former Minister of Information and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Labaran Maku has declared that the PDP has never truly lost an election in Nasarawa State, citing unwavering grassroots support.
Speaking at the inauguration of the State Reconciliation and Finance Committees in Lafia, Maku said: “I know that if there is an election today or tomorrow, PDP will win… Every time I go to the villages and speak with the people, they still say they are looking forward to voting PDP.”

Maku, chairing the Finance Committee, urged unity, stating: “We are determined to serve the party in any capacity. Even if they say we should sweep the streets of Lafia so PDP can win, we will do it.” He emphasized reconciliation, saying: “When you lose one member of the party, you are reducing your strength.”
The Reconciliation Committee, led by Alhaji Sule Nasidi, aims to heal divisions following a May 5, 2025, Appeal Court ruling in Makurdi dismissing a case by 16 aggrieved members as an intra-party matter. Nasidi pledged: “We are humbled by this responsibility and pledge our commitment to deliver on the assignment.”
State PDP Chairman Adamu Bako Ninga, inaugurating the committees, stressed unity and credibility, saying: “I chose people with credibility and capacity to bring peace and financial strength to the party.” He sought forgiveness for past grievances, adding: “What we should celebrate is when PDP returns to the Government House in 2027.”
