The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has declared Toyin Amuzu as its flagbearer for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Amuzu, who was the party’s candidate for the same constituency in the 2023 general election, emerged unopposed at the primary held on Sunday at the Oke Mosan State Secretariat.

A motion affirming his candidacy was moved by Mallam Bola Taiwo and seconded by Alhaji Isa Orunsolu. The exercise was supervised by Prince Akeem Ade Balogun of the Independent National Electoral Commission and witnessed by security agencies including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services.

Pledging purposeful representation, Amuzu promised to prioritise grassroots projects determined by constituents themselves, adding: “They will take their destinies into their own hands by stating their needs and I will execute both government-backed projects and my personal intervention projects.”

In the All Progressives Congress, former Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, clinched the House of Representatives ticket for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, polling 25,167 votes across 21 wards, comprising 17,286 from Ifo and 7,881 from Ewekoro Local Government Areas.

Separately, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, disclosed at the weekend that President Bola Tinubu personally wants him to return to the Senate in 2027 to drive passage of the National Digital Economy and e Governance Bill, which he described as critical to modernising Nigeria’s laws for a data driven economy.
