PDP NEC meeting rescheduled as governors sue for peace among members

The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors forum has been rescheduled.

The development was revealed via a communique issued and signed by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, with a date for the meeting slated for November 28, 2024.

The decision was made following a consultative meeting of the party’s various organs on Tuesday at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge, Tatari Ali House, Asokoro.

According to Mohammed, the meeting was postponed to ensure that the party enters the forthcoming Ondo gubernatorial elections scheduled for November 16, 2024, with the unity and strength demanded to “unseat the floundering All Progressive Congress (APC) government in the state.”

It was also revealed that disunity among party members was also a reason for the meeting.

“Reiterating the need for unity in the face of efforts by detractors to divide the party, the meeting called on all members to shun divisive utterances that could undermine ongoing efforts at strengthening the party to effectively play its role as the country’s main opposition, preparatory to taking over in 2027,” the communique partly reads.
