A strong wave of grassroots support for Governor Peter Mbah’s second-term bid swept through the Mburubu community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State as residents turned out in large numbers to participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) ongoing e-registration exercise.

The mobilisation, led by the Chief Executive Officer of First Choice Afro Villa Ltd and Mburubu Construction Company, Dr Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe, drew Ozo title holders, Ndi Nze, the oldest man in the community, women groups, youths, and key political stakeholders in what many described as a clear endorsement of the governor’s performance in office.

At the event, former ward chairmen of both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) openly declared support for the APC and Governor Mbah during the event.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Onuokaibe praised the governor’s infrastructural strides in the area, particularly the ongoing road construction projects, which he described as unprecedented in the history of the community.

“The road projects are massive and life-changing for our people. What Governor Mbah is doing here is overwhelming. This is why we must stand by him. Other senatorial zones have completed their two tenures; it is now our turn to ensure continuity,” he said. He stressed that the people of Nkanu East were united and determined to secure a second term for the governor.

“We are ready to stand firmly for him. We do not want him to struggle for anything. It is our responsibility as Nkanu East people to return him for a second tenure,” he added.

Dr Onuokaibe attributed the high turnout for the APC e-registration to genuine appreciation of the governor’s leadership, dismissing claims of inducement. “This is not about money or inducement. The people are registering because they see and feel the impact of good governance. They love what he is doing for us,” he said.

Declaring the political mood in the community, he stated emphatically: “For us in Mburubu, it is APC and Peter Mbah without negotiation.”

He also dismissed pockets of dissent and planned protests, expressing confidence that unity and collective interest would prevail in the community.

Dr Onuokaibe also thanked Governor Mbah for appointing a son of Mburubu as a commissioner, describing it as a testament to the governor’s inclusive style of governance and commitment to recognising communities that stand with him.

On his part, the immediate past chairman of the PDP in Enugu State, Dr Martins Chukwunweike, described the APC as a strategic vehicle for sustaining Governor Mbah’s development agenda beyond 2027.

He noted that the governor came into office well prepared and has continued to fulfill his campaign promises across the state.

“APC remains the veritable platform to consolidate the development trajectory we are witnessing in Enugu State. The people should come out and vote for the broom from top to bottom,” he urged.

Dr Chukwunweike expressed confidence that Governor Mbah’s performance has already positioned him strongly for re-election, assuring residents that inclusiveness would remain a hallmark of the party’s operations, especially in the forthcoming ward congresses.

The leader of Umuada Peter Mbah, Peace Patrick, also called on residents to remain steadfast in their support for the governor, describing him as a worthy son whose projects are visibly transforming the community.

“The smart school, the Type II hospital, and the ongoing road construction are clear evidence of what this administration means for Mburubu. Supporting him for a second tenure is in our best interest,” she said.

She added that the clearest demonstration of support would be active registration with the APC.
