The former governor of Cross River, Senator Liyel Imoke, and the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon John Gaul, have lost their Abi/Yakurr federal seat to rival APC.
Also, the deputy governorship candidate of APC, Ntufam Ekpo Okon, lost his senatorial zone to the PDP.
Announcing the results of the election at the collation centre, Calabar Municipal office, the INEC returning officer for Southern senatorial district, Prof James Epoke, declared Senator Gershom Bassey (PDP) the winner, having polled 77, 478 while Otu Bassey (APC) scored 63, 250.
The returning officer for Abi/Yakurr, Prof Chike Eke Okpara, who declared the result at Ikom, said Dr Alex Egbona (APC) scored 29, 432 votes to defeat the PDP candidate and Speaker of the House of Assembly who polled 26, 971 votes.
Imoke and Gaul are from the same Abi local government, where Dr Egbona also hails from and the former Chief-of-Staff to Imoke.
In other National Assembly election declared so far by INEC, Hon Eta Mbora, (PDP) won in Calabar municipality/Odukpani federal constituency, polling 24,075 votes to defeat Bassey Akbah, (APC) who scored 10, 740 votes
From the results of presidential election announced by INEC, the PDP presidential candidate, Alh Atiku Abubakar, is leading in the 12 local governments area with a total of 196, 704 while President Buhari of APC has scored 60, 540 votes.
