PDP crisis deepens as Turaki group shuns reconciliation moves

Jungudo-Mohammed

By Lawrence Agbo

The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a fresh turn, as the Turaki group continues to stay away from reconciliation efforts initiated by the Wike faction.

Jungudo Mohammed, National Publicity Secretary of the Wike-aligned faction, said on Prime Time on Arise News that the Turaki group has repeatedly ignored invitations without offering any explanation.

Mohammed noted that the effort complied with directives from the Court of Appeal, which advised PDP members who felt wronged to seek communication and reconciliation.

He claims that there has been no response despite “several” attempts to bring the Turaki group to the table

“We have extended invitations repeatedly in the spirit of unity and in line with the court’s advice, but they have refused to show up, and no reason has been given,” he said.

Prior to the upcoming elections, the Wike group maintains that its goal is to create “one formidable PDP.”

However, the continued absence of the Turaki group from reconciliation talks underscores the deep crisis within the PDP.
