A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State and business mogul, Chief Julius Ama Oji, has resigned his membership of the party.

According to the community leader, who hails from Nguzu Edda community in Edda Local Government Area of the state, the lingering internal crisis within the opposition party was hindering his active participation and commitment.

In his resignation letter dated 1 May 2026 and signed by the Nguzu Ward Chairman of the PDP, Mr Okoro Mba Agwu, Chief Oji also cited leadership disagreement and division within the party’s rank and file as reasons for his exit.

The resignation letter, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent on Tuesday, reads: “I write to formally tender my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective from today, May 1st, 2026.

“The continuous and persistent interval crisis, leadership disagreement and division within the party have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my active participation and total commitment as a member. The ongoing legal battle and conflicts within the ranks of party leadership have, unfortunately, weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party.

“Please, accept this letter as my formal notice of resignation from the party.”
