As the anticipation builds towards the impending Appeal Court judgment on the Nasarawa State Governorship Elections, the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has demonstrated unwavering confidence in the nation’s judiciary.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Ibrahim Hamza, the party’s Publicity Secretary in Lafia, the state capital, the PDP hailed the judiciary as the last bastion for those seeking justice.
The statement urged residents to maintain calmness, eschew tension, and avoid provocations, emphasizing the significance of prayerful optimism for a just outcome. It emphasized the hope for fairness despite attempts by certain factions to influence the judiciary’s decision-making process.
“We trust in the judiciary’s capacity to ensure justice prevails as it did during the tribunal proceedings. We implore our supporters and the entire populace to stand united and resolute, steering clear of distractions orchestrated by those vying for power at any cost,” the statement affirmed.
Amidst the pledge for peace and development in Nasarawa state, the PDP cautioned against succumbing to unwarranted strategies aimed at hindering progress and sowing discord within the state. The party reassured the people of their belief in a favorable outcome and called for residents to conduct themselves peacefully, expecting adequate security measures before, during, and after the court’s verdict.
“Let us refrain from actions that could incite disturbances after the judgment is delivered. Politicians must exercise restraint in their statements to prevent unnecessary tension and uphold the sanctity of the judicial process,” the statement emphasized.
Furthermore, the PDP urged the collaborative efforts of the Police Command and other security agencies to thwart any attempts at compromising the established security arrangements, encouraging residents to continue their daily activities without fear.
Recall that the governor of Nasarawa state Engr. Abdullahi Sule on Monday in an expanded security meeting in government house had cautioned his supporters to restrain in making unguarded statements culpable of creating tension in the state.
Daily Sun gathered that the state is braced for the Appeal Court’s crucial decision, the PDP and APC unwavering faith in the judiciary stands as a testament to their commitment to the rule of law and a peaceful Nasarawa State.
