• Mourns fallen officers, demands thorough investigation
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has suspended its campaign activities for one week in honour of the victims of Monday’s military plane crash in Ondo State.
The National Coordinator of the Movement, Sunday Asuku, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, quoting the Grand Patron, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, as describing the crash as a painful and monumental loss to the Armed Forces and the nation.
Tompolo expressed profound shock and sorrow over the incident, saying the officers who lost their lives “paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, serving our country with courage, patriotism and unwavering commitment.”
According to Asuku, the Grand Patron directed the suspension of all campaign activities for the 2027 presidential election for one week in view of the sombre mood across the country.
He also extended his heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the government and people of Ondo State, as well as the families, friends and colleagues of the fallen officers.
“The Movement prays for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and asks Almighty God to grant their families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
“We also urge the military authorities to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation into the cause of the crash to prevent future occurrences,” the statement said.
