The Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development (PAPSD) has dismissed calls for a state of emergency in Zamfara State over insecurity, labelling them unconstitutional.
PAPSD’s Executive Director, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, in a statement on 13 April 2025, accused “faceless groups” and “desperate politicians” of pushing the agenda to destabilise Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration.
Shinkafi cited Sections 188 and 305 of the 1999 Constitution, stating, “Zamfara State does not fall in any of these clear provisions… for removing the governor or declaring a state of emergency.”
He praised Lawal’s synergy with President Bola Tinubu and security forces, noting improved safety has spurred economic growth, infrastructure, and the ₦70,000 minimum wage implementation.
“Governor Lawal has rehabilitated hospitals, built schools, and revived projects like Gusau International Cargo Airport,” Shinkafi said, urging politicians to shun divisive tactics.
He called Tinubu a democrat who would not heed “political jobbers,” affirming Lawal’s focus on his Rescue Mission despite distractions.
