Pantami presented with certificate as Gombe PDP governorship candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presented a Certificate of Return to Professor Isa Ali Pantami, confirming him as the party’s recognised governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State.

The presentation took place on Wednesday during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and the inauguration of the 2026–2030 NEC at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting was presided over by the party’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, alongside members of the newly inaugurated NEC.

According to the PDP, the certificates were issued to governorship candidates whose nominations had been recognised and published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s duly nominated candidates for the 2027 elections.

Pantami was among the candidates who received the Certificate of Return, formally affirming his status as the PDP’s governorship flagbearer for Gombe State.

The development marked a significant step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election in the state, where the PDP would seek to challenge the ruling party for control of the Government House.

The issuance of Certificates of Return followed the completion of the party’s internal nomination processes and the recognition of successful candidates by the electoral commission.

Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, emerged as the PDP’s governorship candidate after the party’s primary process. His candidacy attracted attention within Gombe’s political landscape due to his previous role in the federal government and his involvement in public service.

With the presentation of the certificate, attention was expected to shift towards campaign activities and political realignments ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.

Political parties across the country continued to position themselves for the next election cycle as preparations gradually gathered momentum following the conclusion of various internal nomination exercises.
