Pacquiao, Spence Jr challenge possible

Errol Spence Jr and Manny Pacquiao appear to have agreed to fight each other after Spence outclassed Mikey Garcia to defend his IBF welterweight title for the third time.

The pair met and shook hands in the ring in Arlington, Texas following Saturday night’s fight, which saw Spence extend his unbeaten professional record to 25-0.

All three judges had Spence comprehensively ahead on their scorecards against an opponent who had moved up two weight divisions to face him.

Spence invited Pacquiao, 40, into the ring following the win and said: ‘He’s a legend in the sport and it’d be my honour to fight him next.’

When asked if he would accept the fight, Pacquiao responded: ‘Why not? We will give the fans a good fight.’

Pacquiao last stepped into the ring in January, where he retained his WBA (regular) welterweight title with a unaimous decision win over American Adrien Broner.

A highly competitive welterweight division means unification bouts with WBA champion Keith Thurman, WBC champion Shawn Porter and WBO champion Terence Crawford would also be possibilities.
